The Artificial Intelligence and the Country's Governance

The country's leading minds in artificial intelligence (AI) convened in specialized conference titled “The Artificial Intelligence and the Country's Governance” at the Center for Development Research and Foresight, Iran, tackling crucial questions about governing this powerful technology and harnessing its potential for good.

From the definition of AI itself to the challenges and opportunities of governance, the conference buzzed with insights from top researchers like Sara Borbor, a faculty member of Tarbiat Modares University and the supervisor of the Metadata Office of the National Cyberspace Center, Hossein Mirzapour, the founder of the Data and Governance Laboratory and a member of the board of directors of Hamrah-e-Aval company, and Javad Elahi, an expert in AI.

Borbor captivated the audience with a glimpse into Iran's vibrant AI landscape, showcasing its diverse applications in everything from facial recognition to chatbots and self-driving cars. Her message: AI is no longer a futuristic sci-fi concept, it's transforming our daily lives right now.

But with great power comes great responsibility, and Mirzapour emphasized the critical need for effective governance. He stressed that data governance is the cornerstone, ensuring responsible use and preventing misuse. But the conversation didn't stop there. Mirzapour also explored "governance with AI," envisioning a future where AI assists us in navigating complex challenges and improving our lives.

Competition was another key theme, with Javad Elahi highlighting AI's potential to revolutionize industries. He argued that AI can streamline processes, respond to crises in real-time, and boost organizational resilience. In a world increasingly driven by technology, Elahi urged sovereign nations to prioritize AI development to stay ahead in the global race.

From ethical considerations to practical applications, this specialized conference offered a vital platform for discussing the future of AI. As the world grapples with this transformative technology, the insights shared in the Center for Development Research and Foresight will undoubtedly shape the path forward.
