The Role of Financial Technologies in the Country’s Economic System: Challenges and Policy Recommendations

The scientific-specialized conference, titled "The Role of Financial Technologies in the Country's Economic System: Challenges and Policy Recommendations" at the Center for Development Research and Foresight brought together experts from various fields to discuss the potential and pitfalls of FinTech in Iran's developing economy.

The conference which was held in collaboration with Sina VC, featured insights from Seyed Mehdi Hosseini, an expert in FinTech and former director-general of the Information Technology of the National Audit Office. Hosseini emphasized the transformative potential of FinTech, highlighting its ability to improve financial services and operations traditionally controlled by banks and institutions. He stressed the need for a supportive ecosystem, including government policies and regulations that encourage innovation while ensuring security and stability.

Ahmad Taqavayi Najib, head of the Information Technology Center, Cybersecurity, and Smart Economy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, shed light on the key components for successful FinTech integration, including accessibility, quality, transparency, and security. He underscored the importance of data-driven decision-making and infrastructure that can support these new technologies.

Mohammad Farjoud, CEO of the Technology and Innovation Holding of Tejarat Bank (Tafta), championed FinTech's role in financial inclusion, making financial products and services more accessible to all, especially underserved communities. He cited benefits like increased access to credit, production stimulation, and reduced costs. Farjoud also presented solutions, including empowering FinTech actors, fostering collaboration between traditional finance and FinTech, and improving regulations through inclusive processes.

The conference concluded with experts expressing their views and posing questions, highlighting the need for continued dialogue and collaboration to harness the power of FinTech for a more inclusive and prosperous Iranian economy.

While the potential of FinTech seems vast, challenges like regulation, security, and human resource development remain hurdles to overcome. This conference served as a crucial platform for open discussion and exploration of solutions, paving the way for a more informed and strategic approach to FinTech integration in Iran.

تاریخ تاسیس مرکز پژوهش های توسعه و آینده نگری به ابتدای مرداد ماه سال 1397 "ه ش" باز می گردد. این مرکز پژوهشی پس از دوران تاسیس و استقرار، اکنون به عنوان یک نهاد مستقل علمی ذیل وزارت علوم، تحقیقات و فناوری در مرحله ی تثبیت ماموریت های خود قرار دارد و در این دوره تلاش کرده است با ساختاری چابک و منعطف به عنوان مرکز تخصصی با مطالعه بر دو کارویژه "توسعه و آینده نگری ایران اسلامی" با مشارکت نهاد های علمی کشور به عنوان مشاور علمی و امین دولت جمهوری اسلامی ایران در تمامی سطوح عمل نماید.
